Galamsey Kingpin Arrested After Attempting to Bribe Task Force with GH₵100,000 at Ayensu River Site

Eastern Region, Ghana – November 2025: The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested a notorious galamsey kingpin during a major raid at Bisiasi in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region. The suspect was apprehended after blocking and severely polluting the Ayensu River with illegal mining activities.
According to reports, the suspect arrived at the site armed with a pistol and attempted to bribe the NAIMOS task force with GH₵100,000 in a desperate bid to avoid arrest. The offer was rejected, and the task force seized the cash, mining equipment, and other materials used in the operation.
The illegal mining site has since been shut down, with ongoing investigations expected to lead to further arrests and prosecutions.
