Gospel Singer Maame Tiwaa, Backing Vocalist for Yaw Sarpong, Passes Away

Ghana's gospel music scene is mourning the loss of Maame Tiwaa, the renowned backing vocalist of legendary musician Yaw Sarpong. She passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, after a brief illness 

Maame Tiwaa was a key member of Yaw Sarpong's 'Asomafo' band and was known for her powerful vocals and spiritual depth. Her contributions to Ghana's gospel music industry span over three decades, with hits like "Wo Haw Ne Sen", "Awurama Ka Me Ho", and "Yen Fa Oye Nkoaa" 

Tributes are pouring in from fellow musicians, fans, and church communities, remembering her as a gentle soul whose voice brought spiritual upliftment. The family is yet to release details regarding the cause of her death and funeral arrangements.
