Ghana's football landscape has just got a significant boost with the appointment of Carlos Queiroz
Ghana's football landscape has just got a significant boost with the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the Black Stars, replacing Otto Addo.
Queiroz, a seasoned Portuguese tactician, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having managed top teams like Real Madrid, Manchester United, and national teams including Portugal, Iran, and South Africa.
Queiroz's appointment comes just two months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will face tough opponents like England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L. His experience in guiding teams to World Cup tournaments is expected to be a game-changer for the Black Stars. He led South Africa to qualification for the 2002 World Cup, guided Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, and managed Iran at the 2014 and 2018 tournaments.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is optimistic about Queiroz's ability to lead the team to success, citing his extensive World Cup pedigree and tactical discipline. Queiroz himself expressed gratitude and humility, stating, "This is not just another job, it is a mission. And I am ready to give everything of my experience and knowledge once again, in service of the game and the happiness of people".
