Accra, Ghana — December 11, 2025: President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Majority Leader and the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament to withdraw the Private Member’s Bill that seeks to repeal the Act establishing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to a statement from the Presidency, the directive reinforces the President’s public commitment—expressed during a meeting with the Peace Council—to strengthen the OSP as a key institution in Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts.
President Mahama stressed the need for the OSP to intensify its work, enhance transparency, and rebuild public confidence in line with the purpose for which the office was originally created.
The statement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President.
