Northshore Apparel Demonstrates Potential of 24 Hour Economy - Mahama

Savelugu, August 28, 2026 — President John Dramani Mahama has cited the Northshore Apparel Hub as an example of how Ghana’s 24-hour economy initiative could generate employment, increase production and boost exports.

Speaking at the opening of the facility in Savelugu, President Mahama said Northshore’s plans to operate multiple shifts would create additional employment opportunities while increasing production for international markets.

He said the company had already created at least 2,000 jobs, with the bulk of its products intended for export.

According to the President, the 24-hour economy is designed around two major objectives: job creation and accelerated exports.

He said Northshore Apparel, which is registered under the Free Zones regime, would benefit from available incentives, including tax and duty exemptions on plants and equipment.

President Mahama also announced plans for government to introduce a net-metering framework that would allow businesses generating excess electricity through solar power to supply it to the national grid and receive compensation.

He described the initiative as part of broader efforts to support businesses operating multiple shifts and strengthen Ghana’s productive and export capacity.
