Asantehene to Conclude Bawku Conflict Mediation on December 1, 2025
JHNews || As the December 1 session approaches, hopes remain high that the Asantehene’s intervention will finally restore stability to Bawku, ending decades of hostilities and ushering in a new era of unity and coexistence in the area.
Kumasi, Ashanti Region – The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to conclude the ongoing Bawku conflict mediation process on December 1, 2025, as part of efforts to bring lasting peace to the troubled area in the Upper East Region.
The final mediation session will mark the end of months of intensive consultations between the feuding factions, traditional authorities, and government representatives under the auspices of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, chaired by the Asantehene.
The protracted Bawku conflict, rooted in chieftaincy and ethnic tensions, has claimed lives, displaced residents, and disrupted social and economic activities in the region.
Sources close to Manhyia Palace indicate that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will deliver his final recommendations and peace framework to both the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions, emphasizing reconciliation, justice, and development as the foundation for sustainable peace.
The mediation effort, which began earlier this year, has been hailed by many as one of the most inclusive and structured peace processes in recent years, with active involvement from religious leaders, security agencies, and civil society organizations.
