Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie Officially Sworn In as Ghana’s Chief Justice
JHNews || The Mahama administration has pushed through another major appointment as Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie takes over as Chief Justice.
Accra, Monday, November 17, 2025 — Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has been formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana after taking both the Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath before President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House.
His swearing-in follows Parliament’s recent approval of his nomination, despite a boycott by the Minority during the vetting process. The ceremony, attended by senior members of the judiciary, government officials, and legal practitioners, marks the beginning of Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s tenure as the head of Ghana’s judicial arm.
President Mahama congratulated the new Chief Justice and urged him to uphold the highest standards of fairness, independence, and integrity, especially at a time when public confidence in state institutions is under scrutiny.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, in his remarks, pledged to strengthen judicial reforms, enhance efficiency in justice delivery, and protect the independence of the courts.
