Accra, November 18, 2025 — The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at their residence in Ofankor, within the Ga East Municipality.

The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, was arrested on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family home.

According to the police, two of his siblings — Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey — were also arrested after they attempted to attack a female tenant who they suspected of recording and sharing the disturbing video online. The tenant was immediately rescued for her safety.

Police say efforts are ongoing to locate the victim, the wife of the suspect, who fled the residence before officers arrived.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to combating domestic violence and ensuring that perpetrators face the full rigour of the law.
