Ten Arrested Over Fake Online Food Delivery Scam in Ghana
JHNews || Ten fraudsters now face the law for turning food delivery into a front for theft. While real businesses struggle under scrutiny, scammers get bold — it’s time the police, regulators, and the public treat online marketplaces as war zones for consumer protection.

The Ghana Police Service has arrested ten suspects for allegedly operating fake online food delivery platforms used to defraud unsuspecting customers.
Scope & Method of the Scam
- Six of the suspects were apprehended on October 1, 2025, in Sogakope (Volta Region) following an intelligence-led operation.
- Four additional suspects were arrested on October 12 at a hideout in Haatso, Accra.
- The ring created fake websites and social media pages impersonating popular food delivery brands to trick customers.
- Victims who placed orders were asked to make advance payments via mobile money, but the food was never delivered.
- Some suspects allegedly gained access to victims’ mobile money wallets and bank accounts under the pretext of assisting payment, then withdrew funds without consent.
Several devices used in the scheme were seized and are now undergoing forensic examination.
