Interior Ministry Says No Record of Alleged Assassination Attempts on Special Prosecutor — Contradicts OSP Claims

Accra, 8 December 2025 — The Interior Ministry says it has found no official record of any assassination attempt on Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, directly contradicting claims made this week by the OSP.

The denial follows a televised appearance by the OSP’s Communications Director, who alleged that Agyebeng survived two assassination attempts and that he himself was assaulted and handcuffed by police officers.

In a statement issued Monday, the Ministry disclosed that despite initial engagement with Agyebeng, no complaint or threat report has been filed at any police station or state security agency in Ghana.

Nevertheless, the Ministry has ordered a full-scale investigation into the allegations, emphasising that “crime does not expire.” The probe will also look into claims by the OSP official that he was beaten and restrained by police.

Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and integrity of officials within accountability institutions, while pledging transparent updates to the public.
